When to score a bargain with FIFA 18

Game traditionally drops in price around Black Friday

For football fanatics, the onset of Autumn means one thing – FIFA.

Queues outside retailers at midnight on the game’s launch day are not uncommon. Neither is people taking the day off work – or calling in sick! – in order to play the game on that first day.

The demo is out and FIFA 18 is due to hit the shelves on 29th September 2017 with Cristiano Ronaldo gracing the cover. FIFA 18 will retail at £59.99 according to EA Sports. To get the game early, the Ronaldo Edition is released on 26th September with an extra £20 to pay for the privilege.

PriceSpy has done all the leg work for those looking to buy FIFA 18 for themselves, friends or family by revealing the best time to buy the game.

For fans looking to pre-order the game to ensure they get a copy the day of the launch, the game can be pre-ordered for less than £45 on PriceSpy. Although, shoppers should be alert to retailers marking up the price ahead of launch. For example, Littlewoods is already listing the item for £14 more than the RRP!

For those that are willing to wait for the hype to die down a little, PriceSpy data reveals that cost savings can traditionally be had by purchasing the game approximately eight weeks after launch – around the time of the Cyber Weekend sales.

Olof Karp, country manager of UK & Ireland at PriceSpy comments: “FIFA is one of the most anticipated games of the year. Eager fans will be waiting in line to get their hands on a copy or will have the game on pre-order”.

“Due to its popularity, retailers seem to be able to charge whatever they want. This is apparent from PriceSpy’s price history data. In order to avoid being ripped off, PriceSpy allows avid gamers to track the game’s price and get alerts when the price drops to ensure they are getting the best deal.

For those that can wait, our data also shows that the Cyber Weekend with Black Friday has been the cheapest time to buy the latest FIFA game in recent years.”
